Leliyn (Edith Falls)
Located within Nitmiluk National Park, Edith falls are made up of a number of falls and rock pools. They are popular and sought for their beauty, with scenic views around the Edith River. The rock pools allow for a refreshing swim when taking one of the various walking tracks which traverse up the falls. Swimming is the most popular activity at these serene falls along with bushwalking, picnicking and relaxing. At the bottom of the falls is a car park and camping area that has recently undergone an upgrade. The space designated for camping is green and shady with good facilities. Various habitats are located within a short walking distance from the camping grounds and car park each with diverse flora and fauna, some endangered and protected. You may find ancient aboriginal paintings on rock faces in the area and out of respect are asked to not touch them. Ideal Months to Visit The most ideal period to visit Edith Falls is around May to September, the dry season. You may otherwise risk the weather of the off peak wet season which may offer you more privacy but also rain that may prohibit swimming or restrict access to the park. Guidelines
Fees
Clothing and Supplies Outside Clothing should be comfortable, light and suitably protective from the sun. This may mean long sleeved shirts. At the least a hat to provide you shade, a high UV protective sunscreen (preferably waterproof so you can have something you can trust in the water) and comfortable walking shoes for potentially longs walks and protection from the terrain. Inside The climate and lifestyle of the NT does result in a very casual dress but keep in mind that many venues that you would expect to have a dress code in any other city will have the same here. To be sure, check the dress code of any venues or dress appropriately before you attend. Water The climate of the NT requires you to remain hydrated and this means you may drink a lot more water then you ordinarily would. Carry plenty of water particularly for long drives and walks. Worn hydration packs are popular amongst visitors and a very good idea. Facilities
