Yellow Water Region / Cruise

The Yellow Water wetlands, located towards the centre of Kakadu National Park, are a Mecca for wildlife and flora. They encompass all that Kakadu national park is famous for, the real Australia and its unique ecosystems. There are approximately 60 species of bird that frequent the wetlands, rivers, flood plains and swamps amongst crocodiles and an array of other animals. The beauty of the yellow region is captivating as you explore this region bursting with an abundance of life each way you turn.

Walking tracks and boardwalks have been strategically placed to allow visitors to roam the billabongs of the yellow region, and take full advantage of what these wetlands have to offer. There are three tracks covering different areas each taking from a leisurely 30 minutes to an hour to walk.

Cruises

Cruises through the Yellow Water wetlands ensure that you get up close and personal with all aspects of wetlands. Not only does the time of the year make a remarkable difference on your experience, but the activity of wildlife varies throughout the day also. Sunset and Sunrise cruises are popular but the flora and wildlife of the yellow water region has enormous offerings all day through. Cruises operate all year round at regular times during the day.

Cruises last for approximately 90 minutes with a well informed guide who will share their knowledge of the region, wildlife, flora and other interesting points of interest. The cruises takes place in an open boat with a high roof so that visitors dont feel boxed in, but instead more closely connected to the environment. Side barriers keep passengers safe from the crocodiles and the roof protects from the Central Australian sun.
