Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve
To catch a glimpse of NT's amazing wildlife, a visit to the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve is a must. This sanctuary serves as a habitat for many of the country's amazing birds, beautiful butterflies, cuddly wallabies, giant crocodiles and other endemic aquatic species. This place is also where students, biologists, researchers and travelers can freely explore and watch the amazing wildlife untouched by pollution. The site's clean rivers and spectacular floodplains are also favorite tourist spots, along with the walks that connect each specific area within the conservation site. Walking or trekking trails captivate tourists and locals because of its unique yet relaxing environment. A walk that connects the wet woodlands to an area brimming with beautiful waterlilies is the perfect spot for a romantic stroll any time of the day. The Monsoon Rainforest path immediately transports the tourists to a time where unspoiled ecosystems are still abundantly found. Another trail leads the visitors to the actual dam while allowing them to marvel at some of NT's unique plants. The Dam Wall trail conveniently provides tourists with shaded areas and platforms for sightseeing and birdwatching. Another exciting attraction of this amazing reserve is the Pandanus Lookout, a perfect observation point for travelers who wish to stargaze or watch the sun go down. Nearby accommodations include cozy homesteads that are well-known for their homemade delicacies. Many of these housing establishments also serve tropical fruits that are locally grown within the area. Tropical flowers also thrive within the reserve, making it a perfect hideaway for horticulturists and flora lovers. A highly-accessible destination, the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve is a favorite vacation spot among soul-searching tourists and locals who wish to get away from Darwin's bustling lifestyle and noisy streets. This unspoiled sanctuary also serves as a gateway for other natural parks and attractions that surround Darwin. |
