Getting around Northern Territory is never dull because the region has premier buildings that tourists can explore. Among its important structures is the Parliament House and Supreme Court, which is found in the city of Darwin.

The Parliament House, which also houses the Supreme Court, was the office of the Northern Territory Legislature. Before, the Legislative Council temporarily stayed at different community halls and constructions in Darwin. In 1955, however, the Legislative Council was assigned to occupy on the area of today's Parliament's House.

After roughly 40 years, the Legislative Council finally used the Parliament House and Supreme Court as its office. It was Honorable Bill Hayden, AC, who officially opened this essential building on August 18, 1994.

The Parliament House and Supreme Court were specially-built to be used by the Northern Territory Legislature. Other offices that occupy this architecture include the Executive, Department of the Legislative Assembly and Members, the Northern Territory Library and Parliamentary Counsel.

Visiting

The influential architecture is a great place to visit because it has various interesting features. The Parliament House and Supreme Court's Main Reception Hall is often used for public exhibitions. This section of the structure is also used to access the Speaker's Green and the Northern Territory Library.

An area in the hall that is often visited is the Legislative Assembly Chamber. This portion of the famous building has the touch of contemporary architecture combined with the traditional style of the Northern Territory. The Legislative Assembly Chamber also has galleries for students and visitors who observe the Assembly sessions and for the press.

To be able to access the galleries, tourists are expected to pass by the hall's mezzanine level. This Parliament House and Supreme Court's area accommodates the Parliamentary Portrait collection, which exhibits pictures of the Legislative Assembly Speakers and Chief Ministers since 1947.

Another worthy section of this prestigious dwelling is the Speaker's Green. This space is often used for important government and parliamentary events but sometimes, it's also a good venue for cocktails and wedding ceremonies. The Speaker's Garden is such a charming area for The Esplanade and the Darwin Harbor are seen from this vicinity. Moreover, people love going to the Speaker's Green because of its fascinating fountain and water feature with the elegant Desert Rose floral crest.
